Police Complaint Filed Against Geetha Krishna Over Remarks on Women in Film Industry

Members of the Visakhapatnam Women Advocates Welfare Association (WAWA) have lodged a complaint against film director Geetha Krishna, demanding strict action against him for making derogatory remarks about women in the film industry. The complaint was submitted yesterday to Visakhapatnam City Police Commissioner Shankha Brata Bagchi.

Geetha Krishna runs the Geetha Krishna Film School in Akkayyapalem, Visakhapatnam, and another film institute in Madhapur, Hyderabad. In recent interviews given to various television channels and social media platforms, he allegedly made objectionable comments about actresses in the film industry. In response, the WAWA members urged the police commissioner to take strict legal action against him.

Geetha Krishna, who has previously directed some films, has been inactive in the industry for some time. In a recent interview, he made controversial statements about the workings of the film industry. He alleged that only wealthy individuals’ children consume drugs, while ordinary people are unaware of such substances. He further claimed that many people in the industry are addicted to drugs.

Additionally, Geetha Krishna made controversial remarks about actresses, stating that they do not perform romantic scenes willingly. He went on to allege that heroines accept ₹50 lakh to visit guesthouses, making distasteful comments in the process. According to the complainants, this is not the first time he has made offensive remarks about women in the industry. They asserted that he frequently makes such statements whenever he gets the opportunity.
