Modi to Re-Inaugurate Amaravati Capital Works

The Andhra Pradesh government is preparing to resume construction work on the Amaravati capital project next month. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had originally laid the foundation stone for the capital city nine years ago. Now, the state government intends to restart the construction under his leadership. However, an official date for the event has not yet been finalized.

The capital’s development had come to a halt after the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) came to power. With the new coalition government taking charge, the construction has resumed. This time, the central government is also backing the project, accelerating progress. The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has sanctioned a loan of ₹15,000 crore for Amaravati's development, while the Housing and Urban Development Corporation (HUDCO) has approved ₹11,000 crore in funding.

Additionally, tenders worth ₹37,702 crore have been finalized, and all construction activities are set to begin simultaneously. Given the significance of the project, the government has decided to have Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially relaunch the work. A final date for the event is expected to be announced soon.
