“Felt Uncomfortable”: Wasim Akram on PCB’s No-Show at Champions Trophy Ceremony

The absence of any Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) officials during the prize distribution ceremony of the Champions Trophy final in Dubai has sparked significant criticism. Despite Pakistan being the host nation for the tournament, not a single PCB representative was present on stage during the ceremony, drawing sharp reactions from former cricketers.

Former Pakistan captain and legendary fast bowler Wasim Akram also weighed in on the matter. "We were the host nation for the tournament… weren't we? How is it possible that not a single person from PCB was present at the prize distribution ceremony?" Akram questioned.

He further explained, "As far as I know, PCB Chairman is unwell. In his absence, PCB Chief Operating Officer Sumair Ahmed Syed and PCB Director of International Affairs Usman Wahla traveled to Dubai. But neither of them was seen on the stage during the ceremony. Were they not invited to the stage?"

Expressing his disappointment, Akram added, "I have no idea what the story behind this is. But for those of us watching, the situation felt quite uncomfortable. At the very least, one representative from PCB should have been on stage. It’s not about presenting the trophy or medals, but having a PCB official there would have been a matter of respect."
