Kohli Misses Century but Breaks Records

In the Champions Trophy match against Australia in Dubai, the Indian team secured a place in the final with a four-wicket victory. Former captain Virat Kohli played a crucial role in the win, scoring 84 runs off 98 balls with five fours, narrowly missing a century. Fans eagerly anticipating another century from Kohli were left disappointed when he fell short.
Speaking after the match, Kohli stated that he does not focus on centuries or records, emphasizing that victory is more important to him. Despite missing the century, Kohli set multiple records with his outstanding innings.
Kohli now holds the record for the most 50-plus scores (24) in ICC ODI tournaments, surpassing Sachin Tendulkar's previous record of 23 in 58 innings. Kohli achieved this milestone in just 53 innings. Additionally, he became the first player to score 1,000 runs in ICC knockout matches across the World Cup, T20 World Cup, Test Championship, and Champions Trophy. His tally currently stands at 1,023 runs.
Kohli also became the highest run-scorer in Champions Trophy history, surpassing Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan’s record of 701 runs by amassing 746 runs. Overall, West Indies legend Chris Gayle remains at the top of the all-time list with 791 runs, while Kohli now stands in second place.
Furthermore, Kohli set another milestone by becoming only the second player after Sachin Tendulkar to score 8,000 runs in ODI run chases.
