AP Agriculture Budget 2025-26: Key Highlights

Andhra Pradesh Agriculture Minister Kinjarapu Atchannaidu presented the agriculture budget for the financial year 2025-26 in the state assembly. During his speech, he stated that the government is taking steps toward achieving the vision of "Swarnandhra" (Golden Andhra) and is focusing on natural farming. He mentioned that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has emphasized the need to promote paddy cultivation.

Atchannaidu stated that the government considers 11 crops as "growth engines" and is working on their development. He highlighted that the agriculture sector recorded a growth rate of 22.86%. The government has allocated special funds for the subsidized seed distribution scheme. The total agriculture budget stands at ₹48,340 crore.

He also mentioned that the current government cleared ₹120 crore in pending seed subsidies left unpaid by the previous administration. Additionally, 35.8 lakh metric tonnes of fertilizers were supplied. Awareness programs on natural farming are being conducted, and ₹40 crore has been allocated for fertilizer management. To promote natural farming, ₹61 crore has been earmarked, while ₹139 crore has been set aside for subsidies on agricultural machinery.

The minister announced an allocation of ₹80 crore for drone subsidies and stated that 875 Kisan Drone Agricultural Mechanization Centers have been established. Further allocations include ₹240 crore for seed subsidies and ₹219 crore for agricultural mechanization. Schemes such as Annadata Sukhibhava and PM Kisan have been allocated ₹9,400 crore. The government has also allocated ₹1,023 crore for free crop insurance.

Other key allocations include ₹930 crore for the horticulture department, ₹239 crore for the cooperation department, ₹300 crore for the price stabilization fund, ₹92 crore for the development of the sericulture industry, and ₹40 crore for maintaining a buffer stock of 2 lakh tonnes of fertilizers. The animal husbandry department has been allotted ₹1,112 crore, while ₹12,773 crore has been allocated for the free agricultural electricity scheme. The fisheries sector will receive ₹540 crore, and the NTR Jalasiri scheme has been allocated ₹50 crore.
