Idli, Sambar Remarks by Goa MLA Spark Controversy

Goa MLA Michael Lobo has stirred controversy with his recent comments regarding tourism in the state. Speaking at an event in Calangute, North Goa, Lobo expressed concerns over the declining number of foreign tourists visiting Goa in recent years.
He criticized the presence of vendors from Bengaluru selling food items like vada pav on Goa's beaches, while others were offering idli and sambar. Lobo claimed that such activities were contributing to the decline in foreign tourist arrivals over the past two years.
He further noted that the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine had also impacted tourism, as visitors from these countries were no longer coming to Goa.
Lobo’s statements have sparked widespread discussion, drawing both support and criticism from various quarters.
