Former YSRCP MP Gorantla Madhav Booked Under POCSO Act, Summoned for Inquiry

Former YSRCP MP Gorantla Madhav has been issued a police notice in connection with an alleged obscene video call incident. This comes as a further setback to key YSRCP leaders, following recent legal actions against Vallabhaneni Vamshi, Posani Krishna Murali, and Nandigam Suresh.

Gorantla Madhav, who has previously been at the center of controversies, is now facing a case based on a complaint filed by Vasireddy Padma, former chairperson of the Andhra Pradesh Women’s Commission. The complaint, registered on November 2, 2024, pertains to a video call in which Madhav allegedly behaved in an inappropriate manner with a woman.

In response to the complaint, the Cyber Crime Police visited Madhav’s residence and issued a notice summoning him for an inquiry on March 5. Authorities have registered a case against him under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and sections 72 and 79 of the BNS (Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita). The police have instructed Madhav to appear before them and provide an explanation regarding the allegations.
