Putin Approves Trump’s Proposal

The United States is taking a significant step in global affairs as military expenditures continue to rise due to ongoing conflicts. Since the onset of the Ukraine war, Russia has substantially increased its defense budget. Meanwhile, countries supporting Ukraine, including the U.S., have also been forced to allocate large sums for military spending.
In this context, the U.S. has put forward a proposal that has garnered attention from several nations. U.S. President Donald Trump has suggested that Russia and China reduce their defense expenditures by 50%. Russian President Vladimir Putin has welcomed this proposal, while China has rejected it.
With Putin’s positive response to Trump’s suggestion, there are growing hopes of improved relations between the U.S. and Russia, two countries that once engaged in a Cold War rivalry. Putin described Trump’s proposal as a "good idea" and stated that Moscow is open to discussions on achieving such outcomes.
During a television interview, Putin was questioned about Moscow’s stance on Trump’s proposal. He responded by saying, “The U.S. will cut its defense budget by 50%. We will also reduce ours by the same percentage. If China joins, an agreement can be reached.” He clarified that he was not speaking on behalf of China but reaffirmed Russia’s willingness to engage in negotiations.
Putin’s acceptance of Trump’s proposal is being seen as a positive indication for a potential resolution to the Ukraine war. However, Chinese President Xi Jinping, who has been involved in territorial disputes with neighboring countries, has declined to support the U.S. proposal.
