Human Intelligence Still Superior to AI, Claims Nandan Nilekani

Artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly dominating nearly every sector, with governments also moving toward its adoption to streamline operations. However, Infosys co-founder Nandan Nilekani holds a different perspective on the growing influence of AI.

"You can bring together all the AI systems in the world, but they will never be equal to five people working together," Nilekani remarked. He emphasized that human intelligence surpasses AI, reiterating that no artificial system can fully replicate human capabilities.

Rather than scrambling to acquire unfamiliar technical skills, Nilekani urged individuals to focus on developing adaptability—an attribute that AI cannot emulate. He described AI as a highly mechanical system that has yet to replace human potential entirely.

Despite technological advancements, there remain certain abilities that only humans possess. Nilekani highlighted aspects such as collaboration, creativity, empathy, and leadership, stating that AI has not yet surpassed human intelligence in these areas.

"As AI becomes more mechanical, human qualities will become even more valuable," Nilekani asserted. He concluded his thoughts by stating that AI does not create—it merely imitates.
