AP Budget 2025: Key Takeaways from Governor Abdul Nazeer’s Address

Andhra Pradesh's budget session commenced this morning, with Governor Abdul Nazeer addressing both houses of the legislature. During his speech, he stated that the public had given their government an undeniable majority in the elections. He also remarked that the state had suffered significant setbacks under the previous administration.

The Governor emphasized that the government’s "Super Six" welfare schemes are benefiting the public. He stated that per capita income has increased since the current administration took office. Pension disbursements are being delivered door-to-door on the first day of every month, and pension amounts have been raised to ₹4,000.
Special attention has been given to education, healthcare, and infrastructure. The government has introduced "Anna Canteens" to provide food for the underprivileged. The goal is to realize the vision of "Swarnandhra" (Golden Andhra Pradesh) by 2047. Major projects like the Polavaram irrigation project and the development of Amaravati have been revived.
So far, investors have committed ₹6.5 lakh crore in investments, and the state's economy has expanded to ₹16 lakh crore. Artificial intelligence is being utilized to enhance industrial growth, governance, and economic development. A comprehensive roadmap has been prepared under the "People First" policy to achieve the Swarnandhra vision.
The Governor stated that the coalition government is working to bring the state back on track. Special initiatives have been launched for the upliftment of backward classes (BCs), with 34% reservations provided for BCs in nominated posts and local bodies. The privatization of Vizag Steel Plant has been halted. Through the NTR Medical Services Trust, quality healthcare services are being provided to the underprivileged.
Vice-chancellors have been appointed for nine universities based on merit. The government aims to complete the Polavaram project by 2027, and the Polavaram-Banakanchela project is expected to resolve drought issues in the Rayalaseema region.
The administration is focused on fostering entrepreneurship, aiming to have at least one entrepreneur in every household. A new IT policy has been introduced to position Andhra Pradesh as a leading IT hub. Out of the 93 central schemes previously halted by the YSRCP government, 74 have been reinstated.
Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) families are receiving up to 200 units of free electricity. The Velugonda project is set to be completed soon. The state is developing ten ports into international ports. By 2029, metro rail projects covering 46 kilometers in Visakhapatnam and 38.40 kilometers in Vijayawada will be constructed.
Additionally, rooftop solar panels have been provided free of cost to 20 lakh SC and ST families.
