AP Assembly Sessions to Begin on February 24; Jagan Likely to Attend

The Andhra Pradesh Assembly sessions are set to commence on February 24, during which the state budget will be presented. On the first day of the session, the Governor will address both houses of the legislature. Clarity on the duration of the session is expected to emerge after the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) meeting.
Notably, YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) chief Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and other party MLAs are expected to attend the session. This development follows recent remarks by Andhra Pradesh Assembly Speaker Chintakayala Ayyannapatrudu and Deputy Speaker Kanumuru Raghu Ramakrishna Raju during a press conference. They pointed out that an MLA who fails to attend assembly proceedings for 60 consecutive working days faces the risk of disqualification. Their statement suggested that Jagan Mohan Reddy, who has been absent from the assembly for an extended period, could be at risk of losing his membership.
Amid concerns over possible disqualification, reports indicate that Jagan Mohan Reddy and other YSRCP MLAs are considering attending at least one day of the session to avoid any legal complications.
