Rising GBS Cases: Chandrababu Issues Key Directives

The increasing number of Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS) cases in Andhra Pradesh has raised concerns, particularly after the death of a woman at Guntur Government General Hospital (GGH). According to official records, 17 cases have been reported so far, though experts believe the actual number could be higher. While medical professionals emphasize that GBS is not a contagious disease, public anxiety remains high.

In response to the situation, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu conducted a review meeting on GBS, discussing the reported cases and symptoms with officials. He directed authorities to take necessary measures to control the disease, ensure proper diagnostic testing, and improve hospital facilities. He also instructed officials to make essential injections available and launch awareness campaigns to educate the public about GBS.

The meeting was attended by State Health Minister Satyakumar Yadav, Health Secretary Krishnababu, and senior health department officials.
