AP Government Plans Reallocation of Village and Ward Secretariat Employees

The Andhra Pradesh government is set to make a significant announcement regarding village and ward secretariat employees during the upcoming assembly session.
The previous government had recruited village and ward secretariat employees, along with volunteers, to improve local governance. However, ahead of the recent elections, a large number of volunteers resigned, leaving their current status uncertain. In response, the government is considering a proposal to absorb the remaining employees into various other state departments.
Following the formation of the coalition government, officials have been reviewing the allocation of employees under three different categories. While some positions have been phased out, reports indicate that around 40,000 employees remain. Efforts are underway to integrate them into different government departments.
Ahead of the assembly session, Minister Dola Bala Veeranjaneyaswamy is scheduled to meet with associations representing village and ward secretariat employees on February 17. During this meeting, the minister will collect petitions and recommendations from employee unions. A report will be compiled based on these discussions, which will serve as the foundation for the government's announcement in the assembly.
