IPL 2025 Matches Will No Longer Be Free to Watch on Mobile

The IPL 2025 season is set to begin in March, with the first match scheduled for March 22 between defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore. The second match will take place on March 23 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad, where last season’s runners-up Sunrisers Hyderabad will face Rajasthan Royals.
However, cricket fans who were expecting to watch IPL matches for free on their mobile devices have received disappointing news. Unlike the previous season, when IPL matches were available for free on JioCinema, this time, fans will need to pay a subscription fee.
This change comes after the merger of Disney Hotstar and JioCinema ahead of IPL 2025. The two platforms have now been combined into a single app called JioHotstar. While the app will allow users to watch IPL matches for a few minutes for free, a subscription will be required to watch full matches on mobile devices.
The subscription plans include ₹149 for three months and ₹499 for a year. For users who want access on two devices, the three-month plan costs ₹299, while the annual plan is priced at ₹899. Additionally, JioHotstar has introduced ad-free subscription options for uninterrupted match viewing.
