President's Rule Imposed in Manipur

The central government has imposed President's Rule in Manipur, citing ongoing ethnic conflicts in the state. The Ministry of Home Affairs issued a notification announcing the decision, which follows the recent resignation of Chief Minister N. Biren Singh.

The Union Home Ministry stated that after reviewing the report submitted by the Governor of Manipur, along with other relevant information, it concluded that the situation in the state did not allow for constitutional governance. As a result, President Droupadi Murmu exercised the powers vested in her under Article 356 of the Constitution and approved the imposition of President's Rule.
