Rajat Patidar Named New Captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise, has appointed Rajat Patidar as its new captain. The young cricketer will lead the team in the upcoming IPL 2025 season.
RCB’s previous captain, South African star Faf du Plessis, was released by the franchise ahead of the player auction. This led to widespread speculation that Virat Kohli might reclaim the captaincy. However, as Kohli showed no interest in taking up the role again, the team management decided to hand over leadership responsibilities to Rajat Patidar.
Other contenders for the captaincy included Krunal Pandya and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, but RCB opted for Patidar, considering the team’s long-term goals.
Despite being one of the most high-profile teams in IPL history, RCB has never won the title. The franchise, which often enters the tournament with high expectations, has struggled to deliver a championship victory. Determined to change this trend, RCB is making significant changes for IPL 2025, with the hope of finally securing its first-ever title.
