Rohit Sharma Creates History as the First Indian Captain to Achieve This Rare Record!

The Indian cricket team secured a resounding 142-run victory against England in the final match of the three-match ODI series on Wednesday. With this win, India completed a 3-0 clean sweep over England. This achievement also marked a historic milestone for Indian captain Rohit Sharma.
Rohit Sharma became the first Indian captain to achieve four clean sweeps in ODI series. He accomplished this feat against West Indies (2022), Sri Lanka (2023), New Zealand (2023), and now England (2025). This also makes him the first Indian captain to whitewash four different opponents in ODIs. Following him on the list are Virat Kohli and Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who have each led India to three clean sweeps.
Additionally, India now holds the record for the most clean sweeps in ODIs over the past 14 years, with a total of 12. New Zealand follows in second place with 10 clean sweeps.
India’s dominant victory over England serves as a strong statement ahead of the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy. The tournament begins on February 19, with India playing its first match against Bangladesh on February 20 in Dubai. The much-anticipated clash against Pakistan is scheduled for February 23.
