Chandrababu Naidu Holds Review Meeting on Bird Flu Outbreak in Andhra Pradesh

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu held a review meeting to assess the situation following the outbreak of bird flu in multiple districts. Thousands of chickens have died due to the virus, causing widespread concern among the public, with many hesitant to consume poultry products.
During the meeting, Chandrababu Naidu reassured citizens that there is no need for panic. He also warned against the spread of misinformation regarding bird flu. Addressing reports circulating on social media claiming that over 4 million (40 lakh) chickens had died, he dismissed these as false. Officials clarified that out of more than 100 million (10 crore) chickens in the state, only 542,000 (5.42 lakh) had succumbed to the disease.
Officials further stated that strict measures were implemented following the receipt of a report from the Bhopal-based laboratory. They explained that lower temperatures accelerate the spread of bird flu, while rising temperatures are expected to curb its transmission. The outbreak has been attributed to inadequate sanitation in poultry farms.
In response, Chandrababu Naidu directed officials to take all necessary precautions at the government level to control the spread of the disease.
