Local Body Elections in Telangana Likely to be Further Delayed

The local body elections in Telangana are expected to face further delays. Initially, it was anticipated that the election schedule would be announced by February 15, following the completion of the caste census. However, Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka has announced that another survey will be conducted to account for those who were not included in the initial caste census.

Given this development, the local body elections may be postponed further. The Congress party has declared that 42% of reservations will be allocated to Backward Classes (BCs) in these elections. In this context, it is believed that the elections might only be conducted after the completion of the new caste survey and the approval of the reservation bill.
