1/70 Act Will Remain Intact, Chandrababu Naidu Reassures Tribal Communities

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has reaffirmed his government's commitment to safeguarding tribal rights, stating that there is no intention to repeal the 1/70 Act. In a tweet, he emphasized that preserving tribal identity is synonymous with preserving Indian culture. He added that his government is continuously working to improve the education, healthcare, and living standards of tribal communities.
Chandrababu Naidu highlighted various special initiatives undertaken for tribal welfare and development. He noted efforts to secure international recognition for tribal products, including Araku coffee. He also recalled that during the united Andhra Pradesh era, his administration had introduced Government Order (GO) No. 3 to ensure that teaching positions in tribal areas were reserved exclusively for tribals.
He alleged that due to the negligence of the previous government, legal complications arose, leading to the cancellation of this order. He assured that his government would strive to restore it. Chandrababu Naidu firmly stated that the 1/70 Act, which was enacted to protect tribal rights over their lands, would remain unchanged under his administration.
The Chief Minister urged tribals not to believe false propaganda or be misled by unnecessary fears. He reiterated his unwavering commitment to the development of marginalized tribal communities. These remarks were shared in a tweet from his official account.
