Gannavaram TDP Office Attack Case Takes a Turn as Complainant Denies Role

A significant development has emerged in the case of the attack on the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) office in Gannavaram, Krishna district, which took place during the previous government’s tenure. The complainant in the case, Satyavardhan, submitted an affidavit in court yesterday stating that he has no connection to the case.

Satyavardhan, who worked as an operator at the TDP office, initially filed a complaint based on which the Gannavaram police registered a case and launched an investigation. Former MLA Vamsi and 88 others were named as accused in the case, with 45 individuals already arrested. Some of the accused approached the Supreme Court seeking bail. However, the apex court directed them to first approach the lower court. Consequently, they filed petitions in the Special Court for SC/ST cases in Vijayawada, where hearings commenced yesterday.

During the proceedings, Satyavardhan submitted a sworn affidavit along with a video-recorded statement to Judicial Officer Himabindu, asserting that he was not present at the location when the incident occurred and had no involvement in the case. He further claimed that the police had obtained his signature as a witness and requested protection from them. Following this, the court adjourned the hearing to today (Tuesday).
