Former Minister Vidadala Rajini Seeks Anticipatory Bail in Atrocity Case

YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leader and former Andhra Pradesh minister Vidadala Rajini, along with her personal assistants Nagishetti Jaya Phanindra and Ramakrishna, has filed a petition in the Andhra Pradesh High Court seeking anticipatory bail in an SC/ST Atrocities Act case. The case was registered based on a complaint filed by Pilli Koti, the social media in-charge of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in the Chilakaluripet constituency.
According to the complaint, Koti alleged that former town Circle Inspector (CI) Suryanarayana had subjected him to physical torture and shown him to Rajini via a video call. Based on these claims, a case was registered against Rajini and her aides.
In their plea for anticipatory bail, the accused argued that Koti's complaint was baseless, as he had alleged that they had verbally abused him over a WhatsApp call, which they claimed was not legally admissible. They further informed the court that Koti had four cases registered against him for objectionable social media posts. Rajini contended that the complaint was an attempt to pressure her into a compromise and was a false accusation made with ulterior motives.
The petition also stated that since a case had been registered, there was a possibility of arrest. Therefore, Rajini requested the High Court to grant her anticipatory bail.
