BJP 48, AAP 22: Vote Counting Concludes in Delhi

The counting of votes for the Delhi Assembly elections has concluded. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has secured a historic victory with 48 seats, while the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) settled for 22 seats. By the end of the counting process, BJP had officially won 47 seats, with one result awaiting formal announcement.

The Delhi Assembly consists of 70 seats. Despite AAP's confidence in retaining power, the voter mandate has taken a different course. After electing AAP to power for two consecutive terms, Delhi voters have now handed a decisive victory to the BJP. This win marks the party's return to power in Delhi after 27 years.

Meanwhile, the Congress party has faced complete rejection from the Delhi electorate, failing to secure even a single seat in this election.

BJP leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with party workers, have expressed jubilation over the victory. The Delhi Assembly elections were held on February 5, and counting took place today (February 8). With the BJP’s resounding win, the question of who will be the next Chief Minister has gained significant attention.

Speculation is mounting that Parvesh Verma, who defeated former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, could be the next Chief Minister. Following the announcement of the New Delhi constituency result, Union Home Minister Amit Shah reportedly held a special meeting with Parvesh Verma, further fueling speculation about his potential leadership role.

However, BJP Delhi affairs in-charge Baijayant Panda has stated that the decision on the Chief Minister will be taken by the party's high command and urged against speculation.
