Vande Bharat Passengers Get New Facility… Here Are the Details!

Indian Railways has introduced a new facility for passengers traveling on Vande Bharat Express trains. Going forward, even if passengers do not select a meal option while booking their tickets, they will still have the opportunity to purchase food during their journey. The Railway Board has clarified that onboard staff will provide food based on availability. In this regard, the Railway Board has issued a letter to the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC).
When booking a ticket for Vande Bharat Express, passengers are given the option to choose meals. Some passengers opt out of this option, assuming they can arrange their own food. However, in certain cases, passengers who did not pre-book meals have faced difficulties, as onboard staff have refused to sell them food, even when they were willing to pay. This has led to complaints from travelers.
In response to these complaints, the Railway Board has now allowed passengers to buy food onboard, even if they did not select the meal option during booking. Additionally, the Railway Board has instructed IRCTC to ensure that food served on the trains meets hygiene standards. To avoid inconvenience to passengers, it has also directed that food sales through trolleys should not be conducted after 9 PM.
