Prakasam District Police Question Ram Gopal Varma for Nine Hours

Film director Ram Gopal Varma appeared before the Prakasam district police today for questioning in connection with a case related to his social media posts featuring images of Chandrababu Naidu, Nara Lokesh, and Pawan Kalyan. The interrogation took place at Ongole Rural Police Station and lasted for approximately nine hours. Circle Inspector Srikanth Babu questioned Varma on various aspects of the case. Following the session, police informed him that he might need to appear again for further investigation.
In addition to this case, the Crime Investigation Department (CID) has also issued notices to Varma regarding his social media posts. He has been asked to appear for questioning at the CID office in Guntur on February 10. CID officials, who were present in Ongole today, personally served the notices to him. The case, for which the notices were issued, was initially registered on November 29 last year.
The complaint against Varma was filed by Bandaru Vamsi Krishna, a representative of the Telugu Yuvatha. He alleged that Varma’s social media posts contained inappropriate remarks that hurt public sentiments and were intended to provoke caste-based tensions.
