Telangana Government Invites RTC Workers for Talks

The Telangana government has invited the management of Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) and the RTC Joint Action Committee (JAC) for discussions on February 10 at 4 PM. This invitation follows the JAC’s warning that they would go on strike on February 9 or any date thereafter if their demands were not met. On January 27, the TGSRTC JAC had submitted a strike notice to the Operations Executive Director at Bus Bhavan, listing 21 demands.

In response, the Commissioner of the Labour Department issued official notices, inviting the workers for talks. A statement from the Labour Department confirmed that discussions were being arranged to resolve the issues.

Among the key demands put forth by the employees are the merger of RTC with the government, implementation of two Pay Revision Commissions (PRCs), enforcement of the 2021 wage revision with salaries on par with government employees, and procurement and operation of electric buses by RTC itself. The government has been urged to address these 21 demands during the discussions.
