Telugu Film Chamber Announces Annual Awards for Film Industry

The Telugu Film Chamber has made a significant decision to introduce annual awards for actors and film industry professionals. The announcement was made during the Telugu Cinema Day celebrations held on Thursday, February 6, at the Telugu Film Chamber in Hyderabad. The event was attended by senior actor Murali Mohan, writer Paruchuri Gopala Krishna, Film Chamber President Bharat Bhushan, Secretary Prasanna Kumar, Directors’ Association President Veera Shankar, and film journalist Rentala Jayadev, among others.

During the event, the Film Chamber made several key decisions. February 6 has been officially declared as Telugu Cinema Day. The Chamber also resolved to present its own set of awards annually, alongside the government awards, with the distribution ceremony scheduled to take place during the Telugu Cinema Day celebrations. Additionally, it was decided that a special flag commemorating Telugu Cinema Day will be hoisted at the homes of actors and at theaters each year on this occasion. The responsibility for designing this flag has been assigned to Paruchuri Gopala Krishna.

Speaking at the event, Murali Mohan made notable remarks, stating that film personalities enjoy greater public admiration than politicians. He expressed that, unlike politicians who lose public support after their tenure, and athletes whose fame is often short-lived, cinema actors remain in the hearts of audiences forever. He reminisced about the time when the Telugu film industry was based in Madras, recalling how film artists proudly identified themselves as part of the "cinema fraternity." Murali Mohan also expressed his happiness over the decision to celebrate Telugu Cinema Day on February 6 each year.
