Trusting Chandrababu Is Like Putting One’s Head in a Tiger’s Mouth: YS Jagan

Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has reiterated his previous warnings to the public, stating that trusting Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is akin to “putting one’s head in a tiger’s mouth.” Speaking at the YSRCP headquarters in Tadepalli on Thursday morning, Jagan claimed that he had cautioned voters during the Assembly elections against believing Chandrababu Naidu’s promises. He further compared trusting Chandrababu Naidu to “waking up Chandramukhi,” a reference to the infamous ghost in Indian folklore.

Jagan launched a scathing attack on Chandrababu Naidu’s government, alleging that Andhra Pradesh has faced severe financial destruction within just nine months of the coalition administration. He claimed that the current government has set records in accumulating debt, stating that the budgetary borrowings alone in this period have reached ₹80,000 crore. Breaking down the figures, Jagan accused the government of borrowing ₹52,000 crore under the Amaravati project, ₹8,000 crore through Markfed and Civil Supplies, and ₹5,000 crore via APMDC, amounting to a total of ₹1.45 lakh crore in loans. He questioned the government’s spending, asking how many welfare initiatives had been implemented despite such heavy borrowings.

Allegations of Halting YSRCP Welfare Schemes

Jagan accused the Chandrababu Naidu-led government of discontinuing several key welfare schemes introduced during the YSRCP’s tenure. He alleged that initiatives such as Matsyakara Bharosa, Kapu Nestham, EBC Nestham, Jagananna Chedodu, Law Nestham, Rythu Bharosa, and Vasathi Deevena have all been halted.

The former Chief Minister also criticized the government for allegedly deceiving volunteers and failing to create new job opportunities. He stated that 2.6 lakh village and ward volunteers, along with 18,000 employees of the Andhra Pradesh Beverages Corporation, had been dismissed.

Criticism of Government Policies on Employees

Jagan accused the Chandrababu Naidu administration of forcing the resignation of the Pay Revision Commission (PRC) chairman and misleading government employees under the pretense of Interim Relief (IR). He claimed that three Dearness Allowances (DA) are still pending for government employees and dismissed the government’s claim of timely salary payments, calling it a lie. "This is what financial destruction looks like," Jagan remarked.

He concluded by stating that he would continue to expose what he described as Chandrababu Naidu’s deceptions and policy failures to the people.
