56-Year-Old Woman Saves Husband Who Fell into 40-Foot Well with Presence of Mind

In a remarkable display of courage and quick thinking, a 56-year-old woman rescued her husband after he accidentally fell into a 40-foot-deep well in Piravom town, Ernakulam district, Kerala.

The incident occurred on Wednesday morning when 64-year-old Rameshan climbed a pepper tree in their backyard to pluck peppercorns. Unfortunately, a branch broke, causing him to fall into the nearby deep well.

Upon witnessing the accident, his wife, Padma (56), remained composed instead of panicking. Without wasting any time, she climbed down into the well using a rope. By the time she reached him, Rameshan was already on the verge of losing consciousness due to submersion in water. Holding onto him tightly for nearly 20 minutes, Padma continuously shouted for help.

Passersby, hearing her cries, rushed to the spot and looked into the well. They immediately alerted the police and fire department. Responding swiftly, the rescue teams arrived at the scene and used ropes to pull both Rameshan and Padma out safely. Rameshan was then taken to the hospital for further medical attention.

Padma’s bravery and presence of mind in saving her husband have earned widespread appreciation online, with many praising her as a true hero.
