Delhi Elections: Two Chief Minister’s Office Employees Caught with ₹5 Lakh

Two employees of the Delhi Chief Minister’s Office were caught with ₹5 lakh in cash ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections. Acting on a tip-off, the Flying Squad Team (FST) detained the individuals while they were in possession of the cash. The incident occurred just before polling began, raising concerns about the purpose of the money.

The detained individuals have been identified as Gaurav and Ajit. According to police, the cash has been seized, and an investigation is underway to determine its source and intended use. Authorities confirmed that one of the accused works as an assistant to the Chief Minister’s personal assistant, while the other is a driver.

Meanwhile, polling commenced this morning for all 70 Assembly constituencies in Delhi. Around 1.5 crore voters are expected to cast their votes, with 699 candidates contesting in the elections. The ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is seeking a third consecutive term, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is making a determined effort to return to power after more than 25 years. The Congress, which ruled Delhi for 15 years until 2013, failed to secure a single seat in the last two elections and is now striving to regain its footing.
