What is the Idea Behind a Spokesperson for 'Pushpa Raj'? Will It Work Here?

Some ideas may sound innovative at first, but certain decisions remind people of the dialogue from S/O Satyamurthy—"Idhi assaalu bagodu" A similar reaction seems to have emerged regarding a recent statement by producer Bunny Vas, a close associate of Allu Arjun.
During the promotions of the film Thandel, Bunny Vas mentioned in an interview that Allu Arjun is planning to hire a spokesperson who will officially handle all communications related to the star. While this idea might seem new to some, many believe it may not be suitable for the Indian film industry.
Allu Arjun rose to pan-India stardom with Pushpa: The Rise, which significantly boosted his popularity in Bollywood and other states. The buzz and hype surrounding its sequel, Pushpa: The Rule, were immense across India. The first installment alone grossed over ₹800 crore in North India, setting new records. With this success, Allu Arjun has established himself as one of the top stars in India.
However, the film's success was marred by a tragic incident during its benefit show at Sandhya Theatre, where a stampede resulted in the death of a woman named Revathi, while another individual, Sritej, was severely injured and hospitalized. Following this incident, the Telangana government held Allu Arjun accountable, leading to a police case, his arrest, and subsequent bail.
After his release, Allu Arjun received visits from many well-wishers, and when the case was still in court, his decision to hold a press meet and speak to the media drew criticism. Additionally, he did not actively participate in Pushpa 2 promotions and notably did not give any interviews for the film. Despite this, his performance in the film received widespread acclaim, and Pushpa: The Rule went on to collect approximately ₹1,892 crore, becoming the highest-grossing Indian film of all time.
Following the Sandhya Theatre incident and the allegations against him on social media, Allu Arjun is reportedly considering hiring a spokesperson to handle his public statements and future communications. Bunny Vas confirmed this development. However, this decision has sparked debates on social media.
Many argue that in today's digital era, celebrities can directly communicate with their audience via social media platforms or release official press notes if necessary. Given Allu Arjun's active social media presence, he could simply share updates through his team, personal X account, or Instagram.
This has led to criticism and questions about the necessity of a spokesperson—something no other top Indian actor has. Additionally, there are speculations that the media may not show much interest in interviews with a spokesperson instead of directly hearing from the star himself.
