Supreme Court Clears Way for Release of Telangana Group-1 Exam Results

The Supreme Court of India has approved the release of Telangana's Group-1 examination results, dismissing two petitions challenging the process. The Group-1 Mains exams were conducted from October 21 to October 27 last year for a total of 563 posts, with 31,403 candidates (including those under the sports quota) qualifying for the Mains.

Several candidates had protested, demanding the cancellation of Government Order (GO) No. 29 and the postponement of the Group-1 Mains examination. These protests intensified as political parties extended their support to the demonstrators. Following large-scale protests, some candidates approached the Telangana High Court. However, after receiving an unfavorable ruling, they escalated the case to the Supreme Court. Since the case hearing coincided with the commencement of the exams, the court did not halt the examination process, allowing them to proceed smoothly.

On Monday, the Supreme Court, aligning with the Telangana government's arguments, dismissed the petitions filed by the candidates. With legal obstacles now cleared, the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) is expected to announce the Group-1 results soon. Notably, these are the first Group-1 recruitments being conducted since the formation of Telangana 11 years ago.
