Union Home Ministry Issues Key Directives on AP-Telangana Bifurcation Matters

The Union Home Ministry has advised both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana to resolve pending bifurcation issues in coordination, in accordance with the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act. Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan chaired a meeting with officials from both states to discuss unresolved matters related to the bifurcation.

Despite a decade passing since the bifurcation, several issues remain unsettled. According to sources, the meeting primarily focused on the distribution of assets and liabilities of institutions listed under Schedules 9 and 10 of the Reorganisation Act. The Home Ministry made several significant observations during the discussions.

The ministry emphasized that both states should address their disputes through mutual coordination. It also assured that the central government would continue to support infrastructure projects in both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Additionally, the ministry advised that financial allocations should be approached with a balanced perspective, cautioning that excessive demands could be detrimental to both states.

Regarding the institutions listed under Schedules 9 and 10, the ministry suggested that both states seek legal counsel to move forward. It also indicated that further discussions would be held in the next meeting to reach a final decision on pending matters.
