Jeep Plunges into Canal While Returning from Wedding; Nine Dead

A tragic accident occurred in Haryana’s Fatehabad district, in the village of Sardarewala, when a jeep carrying wedding attendees lost control and plunged into a canal. The incident claimed nine lives, while three individuals remain missing. Two others were rescued.
The victims, a group of 14 people from Punjab’s Fazilka district, were returning home late on Friday night after attending a wedding. As their vehicle approached Sardarewala village, it veered off course and fell into a roadside canal. Upon receiving information, police rushed to the scene and launched a rescue operation. According to officials, the deceased include five women and an 11-year-old girl.
Authorities suspect that dense fog contributed to the accident, making visibility poor and leading the driver to lose control. Preliminary investigations indicate that the lack of clear vision caused the tragedy. Search teams continue to look for the three missing individuals, while nine bodies have already been recovered.
All the deceased were relatives and belonged to the same community, leaving their village in deep mourning.
