Kishan Reddy Defends Telangana’s Share in Union Budget

Union Minister Kishan Reddy responded to concerns raised about Telangana's allocations in the Union Budget, emphasizing that it is not a state budget. He was addressing questions on the provisions made for Telangana in the budget presented by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. Kishan Reddy described the budget as a "dream budget for the poor" and highlighted its benefits for the state.

He stated that the budget prioritizes poverty eradication and infrastructure development. According to him, this budget brings significant advantages for the poor, middle-class citizens, and employees. He pointed out that the Modi government has provided major relief to the middle class by exempting income tax up to ₹12 lakh. Calling it the first step toward the goal of a "Viksit Bharat" (Developed India), he asserted that the budget aligns with the country's long-term economic vision.

Addressing concerns about Telangana's share, Kishan Reddy reiterated that the Union Budget is not a state budget and that Telangana benefits from all central schemes. He stated that ₹1.50 lakh crore has been allocated for MSMEs over the next five years, which would also benefit Telangana. Additionally, he mentioned a ₹10,000 crore special program for startups, which he said would support Telangana's startup ecosystem. He also noted that interest-free loans for up to 50 years would provide further advantages to the state.

Kishan Reddy asserted that every reform introduced by the central government brings benefits to Telangana and its people. He added that as an urban state, Telangana is set to receive ₹10,000 crore, and the AMRUT scheme is already contributing to its development.
