Mohammed Shami Set to Feature in Final T20I, Confirms Bowling Coach

India's pace spearhead Mohammed Shami is set to return to the playing XI for the fifth T20I against England, according to India's bowling coach Morne Morkel. Shami, who has been recovering from an injury sustained during the 2023 ODI World Cup, has been on the sidelines for over a year. His selection for the ongoing T20I series against England had excited fans, who were eager to see him back in action.

Despite being included in the squad, Shami was benched for the first two matches, leading to speculation about his fitness. However, he made a comeback in the third T20I in Rajkot, replacing Arshdeep Singh. In that match, he bowled three overs, conceding 25 runs without taking a wicket. India eventually lost the game by 26 runs. Shami was then rested again for the fourth T20I in Pune, with Arshdeep Singh returning to the playing XI.

Speaking about Shami’s performance, Morne Morkel expressed satisfaction with the seamer's progress in the nets. "Shami has been bowling exceptionally well. He has been bowling at full pace in warm-up matches, and we are delighted to have him back. He brings valuable experience that will benefit the younger bowlers. We will include him in the upcoming match," Morkel stated.

India and England are set to face off in the fifth and final T20I in Mumbai on Sunday.
