Nirmala Sitharaman Wears Gifted Handloom Saree for Budget Presentation – Who Gifted It?

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the budget in the Lok Sabha, and as in previous years, her choice of saree garnered special attention. Since assuming office as Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman has consistently preferred handloom sarees for the annual budget presentation. This year was no exception, as she arrived at the Lok Sabha in a handwoven saree to present the budget.

Ahead of the budget session, Nirmala Sitharaman met President Droupadi Murmu while holding the budget documents. She was seen wearing a beige saree with a gold border, paired with a red blouse and a matching shawl. The saree featured intricate fish motifs, which caught the attention of many.

This year's saree also carried a special significance. During a visit to Madhubani, Bihar, Nirmala Sitharaman met Padma Shri awardee Dulari Devi, a renowned Madhubani artist. On this occasion, Dulari Devi gifted her a handwoven saree of her own design and requested the minister to wear it for the budget presentation. Honoring this request, Nirmala Sitharaman chose to wear the gifted saree for the budget session.
