Former MLA’s Son Arrested for Chain Snatching to Fulfill Girlfriend’s Wishes

A 25-year-old man, identified as Pradyuman Singh, son of former Madhya Pradesh MLA Vijendra Singh Chandrawat, was arrested for allegedly snatching a gold chain from a 65-year-old woman in Ahmedabad. According to police reports, the incident occurred on January 25, when Pradyuman Singh grabbed the gold chain, valued at ₹1.25 lakh, from the neck of an elderly woman named Vasantiben before fleeing the scene.

Following Vasantiben’s complaint, police reviewed CCTV footage from 250 cameras in the area and tracked the suspect to Malhera village in Neemuch district, Madhya Pradesh. Authorities were surprised to discover that the accused was the son of a former legislator.

Police stated that Pradyuman had no prior criminal record and resorted to chain snatching to provide money for his girlfriend. He was employed in Ahmedabad, earning a monthly salary of just ₹15,000, which he found insufficient to cover both his daily expenses and his girlfriend’s financial demands. Seeking quick money, he decided to commit the theft.

According to investigators, this was his first offense, and they recovered the stolen gold chain from him.
