‘My Sins Have Washed Away’ – Poonam Pandey’s Kumbh Mela Visit Goes Viral

Bollywood actress Poonam Pandey recently visited the ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, where she took a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam. Sharing photos and videos of the ritual on social media, she captioned one of her posts, “My sins have washed away.”

Devotees believe that bathing in the sacred confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers during the Kumbh Mela cleanses one of past sins. Many celebrities have participated in this religious tradition, including BJP MP and actress Hema Malini, filmmaker Kabir Khan, comedian Sunil Grover, choreographer Remo D’Souza, and Marathi director Pravin Tarde.

Poonam Pandey, known for her bold social media presence, surprised many with her spiritual visit. She documented her experience in an Instagram story, writing, “My sins have washed away. I have seen life up close. There is a 70-year-old man here who walks barefoot for hours. Faith here knows no bounds. I hope those who lost their lives at the Kumbh Mela attain salvation. The devotion I have witnessed here has left me speechless.”

Her post has since gone viral, sparking various reactions from netizens.

Meanwhile, the Yogi Adityanath-led government has reported that, as of Wednesday, 270 million devotees have performed the holy dip at the ongoing 45-day Maha Kumbh Mela, which began on January 13 and will conclude on February 26. Officials estimate that nearly 400 million visitors will attend the event.

However, the grand gathering also witnessed a tragic incident. On Wednesday morning, a stampede occurred at the Sangam Ghat due to the massive influx of devotees on the occasion of Mauni Amavasya. The chaos resulted in the death of 30 people, highlighting the challenges of managing such an enormous crowd.
