Cricketer Deepti Sharma Appointed as DSP by Uttar Pradesh Government

Indian women's cricket team all-rounder Deepti Sharma has been appointed as a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) by the Uttar Pradesh government. Recognizing her contributions to Indian cricket, the government issued an official order on January 27, appointing her to the position in Moradabad district. Deepti Sharma shared the news on her Instagram account on Wednesday, expressing gratitude to the state government and sharing photos to mark the occasion.

"I feel extremely proud to have achieved this milestone. Becoming a DSP has fulfilled a childhood dream of mine. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to my family for their unwavering support and blessings, which have brought me to this stage. I also thank the Uttar Pradesh government for this opportunity. I promise to carry out my duties with sincerity. A big thank you to everyone who has supported me," Deepti Sharma wrote in her Instagram post.

In 2024, after India's T20 World Cup victory, the Telangana government appointed Hyderabad-born pacer Mohammed Siraj as a DSP. With her recent appointment, Deepti Sharma has now become the second Indian cricketer in recent times to receive this honor.

Deepti Sharma, a spin all-rounder in the Indian women's cricket team, delivered an impressive performance last year across both One Day Internationals (ODIs) and T20 formats. She finished the year as the leading wicket-taker in ODIs and claimed 30 wickets in T20 matches. As the Women's Premier League (WPL) approaches, she is now preparing for the tournament.

Deepti Sharma represents UP Warriorz in the WPL and serves as the team captain. She is determined to lead her team to victory this season. Last year, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) clinched the WPL title, while Mumbai Indians emerged as champions in the inaugural season.
