Kumaraswamy’s First Visit After Steel Plant Package Marred by Minor Accident Near Vizag Steel Plant
Union Minister of Steel Kumaraswamy’s convoy narrowly avoided a major accident during his visit to Visakhapatnam. Upon his arrival at Visakhapatnam Airport, Kumaraswamy and Minister Srinivas Varma were welcomed by Members of Parliament Bharat and Appala Naidu, along with leaders from the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Jana Sena, and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The grand reception was notable as this was Kumaraswamy’s first visit to Visakhapatnam after the central government announced an ₹11,440 crore package for the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant.
As the convoy was proceeding towards the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, three vehicles collided with each other. The accident occurred within an eight-vehicle convoy, resulting in minor damage to three cars. One of the damaged vehicles belonged to former Rajya Sabha member GVL Narasimha Rao. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, bringing relief to everyone involved.
