Former IPS Officer AB Venkateswara Rao Gets Relief as AP Government Regularizes Suspension Period

The Andhra Pradesh government has provided relief to retired IPS officer and former Intelligence Chief AB Venkateswara Rao by regularizing his suspension period. The government issued key orders regarding his service period, modifying the suspension periods imposed during the tenure of the previous administration.

AB Venkateswara Rao faced two suspensions under the YSRCP government. The first suspension was from February 2020 to February 2022, while the second spanned from June 2022 to May 2024.

However, the Chandrababu Naidu-led government has recently issued orders considering these suspension periods as duty periods. Furthermore, the government has directed that full salary and allowances for the suspension duration be calculated and paid to AB Venkateswara Rao as if he had been performing his duties.

Additionally, the government had earlier withdrawn the charges filed against AB Venkateswara Rao, issuing orders to that effect.
