Nara Lokesh: Padayatra is Like an MBA in Politics

Nara Lokesh, Andhra Pradesh's Minister for Education and IT, appeared before the 12th Additional District Court in Visakhapatnam today for a cross-examination in a defamation case against Sakshi newspaper. The hearing was postponed to February 28 after the defense counsel for Sakshi failed to appear in court due to personal reasons. Later, during a press conference, Nara Lokesh made notable comments about his political journey and leadership approach.

Lokesh highlighted his perspective on political engagement, comparing a political padayatra (foot march) to pursuing an MBA. “I did my MBA at Stanford University with the idea of eventually entering politics after a stint in the private sector. However, I realized that an MBA at Stanford is more suitable for business, while a padayatra is essential for politics. Through a padayatra, we get closer to the people,” he remarked.

He emphasized the promises made during his "Yuvagalam Padayatra," stating, "I am committed to fulfilling every promise made during the padayatra. By engaging with people, I have gained a deep understanding of public issues, and we are actively resolving them. My wish is to stay continuously connected with the people, which is why I conduct programs like Praja Darbar to address their concerns directly."

Criticism of the Opposition
Lokesh sharply criticized Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, alleging, “Jagan has no trust even in his own mother and sister. How can he expect loyalty from his party members? They are willing to sell the party for money, and this is evident with the resignations in YSRCP. Lawbreakers within the party will not be spared; investigations are underway, and soon the truth will come to light.”

He also leveled accusations regarding financial and land-related scandals. Lokesh claimed, “The Kakinada port was seized forcibly at gunpoint, and Vijay Sai Reddy misappropriated funds by purchasing property at a fraction of its value. The ED is already investigating these matters. Similarly, land grabbing issues in Visakhapatnam will also be dealt with strictly.”

Lokesh dismissed allegations of political vendetta, stating, “We are conducting systematic investigations into the irregularities of the previous government. This is not revenge; it is about accountability. The process is methodical to ensure law and order remain intact.”

Lokesh reiterated his commitment to transparency and addressing public grievances, promising sustained efforts to connect with the people and resolve their issues.
