Tilak Varma Breaks Virat Kohli's Record

Telugu cricketer Tilak Varma delivered a match-winning performance against England in the second T20 held in Chennai on Saturday. Despite wickets falling at the other end, Tilak remained composed, scoring an unbeaten 72 runs to guide India to victory. Chasing a target of 166 set by England, India secured the win with four balls to spare, thanks to Tilak’s remarkable innings.

Tilak’s heroics also saw him break a prestigious record held by Indian cricket star Virat Kohli. Over the last four consecutive T20 innings, Tilak amassed 318 runs, surpassing Kohli's record of 258 runs in four consecutive innings. Sanju Samson ranks third on this list, with 257 runs in four successive innings. Notably, Tilak has become the first Indian batter to score more than 300 runs across four consecutive T20 innings.

In his last four innings, Tilak recorded scores of 107 and 120 (both unbeaten centuries) against South Africa, followed by 19 and 72* against England. His incredible performance has propelled India to a 2-0 lead in the five-match series. The third T20 is scheduled to take place in Rajkot on Tuesday.
