AP Tableau Highlights Etikoppaka Toys at Republic Day Celebration

On the occasion of India’s Republic Day, celebrated on January 26, the grand parade at Kartavya Path in New Delhi highlighted the nation’s unity, strength, cultural diversity, and defense capabilities. Various state tableaux added to the splendor of the event, capturing the attention of spectators with their unique themes. Among them, the tableau from Andhra Pradesh stood out, centered on the celebrated concept of Etikoppaka toys.

Known for their fine craftsmanship, Etikoppaka toys are made using smooth wooden surfaces and are synonymous with creativity and tradition. The tableau featured intricate designs inspired by these renowned toys, which have gained international recognition. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also praised the uniqueness and cultural significance of Etikoppaka toys on multiple occasions.

The Andhra Pradesh tableau featured a statue of Lord Ganesha at the front and Lord Venkateswara at the rear. Adding to the spectacle, a group of artists performed a dance to a song dedicated to the toys, singing, "Bommalu Bommalu… Etikoppaka Bommalu," as the tableau moved gracefully along the parade route.
