Nara Lokesh’s Davos Visit Focused on Reviving Brand Andhra Pradesh

Nara Lokesh, the Minister for IT and Electronics of Andhra Pradesh, successfully concluded his visit to the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos with the aim of reviving and promoting Brand Andhra Pradesh. Over the course of four days, Lokesh held meetings with over 30 global industrial leaders and participated in eight roundtable discussions to attract investments to the state.
On the first day, Lokesh attended meetings with Swiss industrialists and members of the Telugu diaspora, appealing for their support in fostering industrial development in Andhra Pradesh. He explained the state's investor-friendly policies, incentives, and its focus on emerging sectors such as artificial intelligence, clean energy, and a robust industrial ecosystem.
Lokesh met with nine international experts from various sectors to discuss opportunities for investments in Andhra Pradesh. He emphasized the transformative policies introduced by the state government under the leadership of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, showcasing how Andhra Pradesh is progressing along the path of sustainable development.
During his visit, Lokesh joined Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu in meetings with industry stalwarts, including Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates and Mittal Group Chairman Lakshmi Mittal. He demonstrated Andhra Pradesh’s potential in industrial growth and sustainable development to these global business leaders.
Engaging Global Media and Industry Leaders
Lokesh effectively utilized every moment of his trip to promote Andhra Pradesh. He participated in interactive sessions with prominent media organizations such as CNBC-TV18, Business Today, Economic Times, Bloomberg, and Moneycontrol, where he highlighted the state's favorable environment for investment. He also addressed technological reforms in Andhra Pradesh’s education sector and discussed opportunities in pharmaceuticals, healthcare, and logistics.
At the WEF platform, Lokesh showcased the government’s policies and vision through various roundtable discussions and conferences, making Andhra Pradesh’s presence felt on the international stage.
Overcoming Adversity and Demonstrating Commitment
Despite sub-zero temperatures and challenging weather conditions, Lokesh remained focused on his mission. Notably, on his birthday, he prioritized meetings with industrial leaders over personal celebrations, reflecting his dedication to attracting investments to the state. Drawing on his educational background at Stanford University and professional experience at the World Bank, Lokesh effectively conveyed his vision at WEF meetings.
During his interactions, Lokesh expressed admiration for Mangalagiri handlooms, honoring global business leaders like Bill Gates and Lakshmi Mittal with traditional Mangalagiri shawls. He even ensured these shawls were specially prepared before his trip, reinforcing his connection to the weaver community and his support for local artisans.
