Record-Breaking Performance by Siddharth Desai in Ranji Trophy

In the ongoing Ranji Trophy match against Uttarakhand, Gujarat spinner Siddharth Desai achieved a rare and remarkable feat by taking 9 wickets in a single innings. Bowling 15 overs, Desai conceded just 36 runs, including 5 maiden overs. Impressively, the first 9 wickets of the Uttarakhand innings all fell to Desai's bowling. However, his hopes of claiming all 10 wickets were dashed when Vishal Jaiswal took the final wicket.

This performance broke the previous Gujarat record held by Vinubhai Dhruv, who had taken 8 wickets for 31 runs. Siddharth Desai now holds the record for the most wickets taken in an innings by a Gujarat bowler in Ranji Trophy history.

Desai's bowling decimated Uttarakhand's batting lineup, which crumbled for just 111 runs in 30 overs. Four players were dismissed without scoring, and Shashwat Dangwal’s 35 was the team's highest contribution.

In reply, Gujarat started their first innings strongly. By the end of the first day, they scored 190 runs for the loss of 4 wickets, gaining a 79-run lead. Urvil Patel scored 53 before getting out, while Manan Hingrajia remained unbeaten on 66, partnered by Jaimit Patel on 29 at stumps.
