Nara Lokesh’s Birthday Marked by Waiving ₹100 Crore Penalties: AP FiberNet Chairman GV Reddy

Andhra Pradesh FiberNet Chairman GV Reddy held a press conference today, announcing the waiver of ₹100 crore in penalties imposed on cable operators during the tenure of the previous YSRCP government. This decision coincides with Nara Lokesh’s birthday. GV Reddy stated that complaints had been raised about political motives behind the imposition of these heavy penalties on cable operators, prompting an investigation into the matter.
He further alleged that during the previous government, set-top boxes were rented to cable operators, with an unlawful monthly rent of ₹59 per connection being charged. GV Reddy announced the cancellation of these rents as well.
The Chairman invited interested parties to come forward for the supply of FiberNet boxes and mentioned that the current FiberNet plans are under review. GV Reddy assured the public that efforts are being made to provide FiberNet services at the lowest possible prices. He revealed plans to introduce a basic FiberNet pack specifically designed for low-income groups.
Highlighting the government’s commitment to affordable and high-quality services, GV Reddy emphasized that AP FiberNet services would be offered at half the cost of private competitors while maintaining superior standards.
Additionally, he announced that FiberNet services would be made available free of cost at the Tirumala temple, a decision aimed at enhancing connectivity in the area.
