Abhishek Sharma Becomes Second Indian Batter to Achieve Rare Feat After Mentor Yuvraj Singh

The first T20 match of the five-match series between India and England was held on Wednesday at Eden Gardens. The Indian team secured a commanding victory, chasing England’s target of 133 runs in just 12.5 overs with seven wickets in hand.
Young Indian opener Abhishek Sharma delivered a stellar performance, scoring an explosive 79 runs off just 34 balls. His innings included eight sixes and five boundaries, and he reached his half-century in just 20 balls.
With this innings, Abhishek became the second-fastest Indian batter to score a fifty in T20 cricket against England. His mentor, Yuvraj Singh, holds the record for the fastest fifty, achieved in just 12 balls during the 2007 ICC T20 World Cup. Currently, Yuvraj Singh serves as a mentor to Abhishek Sharma.
In addition, Abhishek added another record to his name by becoming the third Indian batter to hit the most sixes (8) in a single T20 innings. The young player had made his T20 international debut against Zimbabwe last year, where he scored a century in his maiden match and drew widespread attention.
Although his form had dipped after his debut, Abhishek played another crucial knock in this match, reaffirming his potential. So far, he has scored 335 runs in 13 T20 matches, averaging 27.91 with an impressive strike rate of 183.06.
