Passport Seva Kendra Launched in Araku, Making Passport Services Accessible to Tribal Communities

A Post Office Passport Seva Kendra (POPSK) has been inaugurated in the tribal region of Araku in the Alluri Sitarama Raju district. The Ministry of External Affairs, in collaboration with the Department of Posts, launched this facility yesterday. This marks the 43rd POPSK in the country and the eighth under the jurisdiction of the Regional Passport Office (RPO) in Visakhapatnam.

The launch ceremony was attended by Araku Member of Parliament Dr. Gumm Tanuja Rani, Araku MLA Regam Matsyalingam, Chief Passport Officer and Joint Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs Dr. KJ Srinivas, and other officials.

The POPSK in Araku has been established with the broader objective of providing passport services to all citizens of the country, especially those in remote and far-flung areas. This initiative aims to make passport services more accessible to the tribal population residing in the Araku Valley.

Residents of all tribal-dominated villages in the valley can now easily access passport services. Within the Araku Assembly constituency, regions such as Araku, Palkonda, Kurupam, Parvathipuram, and Paderu are covered, while the Rampachodavaram area falls under the Araku Lok Sabha constituency. This development ensures that passport services are now closer to the people of these regions.
